<image:caption>This project in the Brookland neighborhood included the renovation of an existing 2,800 square foot retail space and new construction of a 16-unit residential component. The retail renovation transformed an auto body shop into a 7-11 retail space, including partial demolition and expanding of the slab footprint. The residential portion is made up of eight 2-bed/2-bath apartments, and eight 2-bed/2.5-bath two-story flats. The construction materials are wood frame and stucco with cedar and HardiePanel siding. <image:caption>The Mercury will consist of 11,000 square feet of ground floor retail and 95,000 square feet of multi-family residential uses that will be age-restricted to persons who are 55 years of age or older. There will be 60 total residential units, 8 of which will be moderately priced dwelling units (MPDUs). The building’s owner has a rich history in Washington DC’s built environment. His father was the architect for a number of the District’s art deco treasures including the High Towers in DuPont Circle and the Majestic in Columbia Heights. His personal connection to the art deco style and his love of its timeless appearance lead him to continue this legacy with The Mercury at Wildwood. The building will be made out of buff brick with buff vertical and horizontal accents. There will also be panels below the windows and vertical fins that have the appearance of brushed aluminum. The building’s towers will be topped with a material similar to that of brushed aluminum that will catch the sun during the day and will be lit at night. The art deco theme will be carried throughout the building in smaller details such as wall sconces and signage.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Portfolio - "Alexander Hall" - 2715 & 2709 N Street NW - Washington, DC</image:title>
<image:caption>2715 N Street NW was constructed as a standalone two-story residence in the early 1800s, distinguished by its lush gardens on all sides. A presidentially decorated astronomer named Asaph Hall purchased the property in 1868. Hall, who was best known for his discovery of the moons of Mars, lived here with his wife Angeline and their four children for nearly forty years. During their residency, the Halls added a third story to their home and extensively modified its architecture to embody the Italianate style – many elements of which remain today. The meticulous restoration of this Georgetown landmark seamlessly married and preserved their vibrant legacies for generations to come. This beautiful and distinguished, totally-renovated historic 5,250 square foot semi-detached home, nestled on an 8,388 square foot lot with manicured gardens on a quiet Georgetown street neighboring Rose Park, features three finished levels and an in-ground basement with a 2,000+ bottle wine cellar, seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and one half bathroom. The grand master suite features two bedrooms, walk-in closets, and two full baths with radiant heated floors. This spacious Georgetown gem offers premium material and fine finishes throughout. Attached, at 2709 N Street NW is Alexander Hall, the site of a circa 1909 house of worship that has been converted into three expansive luxury condominium units, totaling over 8,000 square feet. Features included wide plank hardwood floors, Carrara marble counter tops, Wolf and Bosch appliances, and Duravit and Kohler fixtures.</image:caption>

The contemporary design incorporates many sustainable features, including Energy Star appliances, partial green roofs, permeable paving and native planting. <image:caption>This 5,000 sq ft house in Bethesda, Maryland is located on a heavily wooded lot, and occupies the original footprint of the existing house in an effort to minimally disturb the site. Exterior materials consisting of cedar siding with light stucco and dark grey porcelain tile provide a materials palette that fits into the landscape. Light-filled interiors are open and consist of material such as Carrara Marble flooring and espresso maple cabinetry, which complement the minimally detailed spaces. The main living space is organized toward the back of the house overlooking the existing swimming pool, and providing privacy from the street for the family. Built into a sloping site, direct entry into a two-car garage at the basement level provides convenient access to the mudroom and a dramatic three-story sunlit stairwell. The first floor overlooks the street from a welcoming entry porch, while the open kitchen, breakfast and family room areas overlook the private backyard and provide walk-out access to the deck.
