Sassan “Sas” Gharai, AIA — Founder
Sas founded SGA as SGA Architects in 1996, and in 2004 changed the name to SGA Companies, to better reflect the breadth of services offered by the firm. Many of the firm’s initial designs were drawn by hand and then translated into paper models before using CAD. Raised in London, Sas moved to Washington, DC to attend CUA’s School of Architecture, earning both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Architecture, and has been a registered architect since 1994. Sas has two daughters with his partner Anne, is a tennis aficionado, and an avid swimmer.
